Moving up...

Here is Bub graduating 8th grade...  :):)  They  call it moving up... but its graduation!  What a fun evening!

Still chewing his smile... lol   On his way to the ceremony...

We sat on the edge so the girls could run off some energy...  she's pretty cute huh???

Looks like a devious duo!

These next ones are of the choir.  He has sang in the choir for four years...  They made it to the Heritage festival this year.  Our budget was cut and there will not be a choir next year at the middle school.  :(  I am glad he was able to experience what he did there...
They are singing "We are the World" by Michael Jackson.  They did a couple of his songs... but this one they did with sign language which was kind of neat too...

In line waiting for that certificate!

 YEAH!  HE DID IT!!!

 Can you see me now?

I think I can... oh no you cant... I think I can!!!

 YEAH I DID IT!

This is what a puppy does... lolol

Walking out from the two hour ceremony...

Yeah its over... :):)  I think Mom and Dad have a picture of me somewhere with my face scrunched... she loves to scrunch her face... what a goofball...
 Yup... THAT'S MY BOY!

Heather was taking the picture... but there we all are (mostly)... that Saturday we BBQ'ed up the last of "Sir Loin" for his graduation dinner.  Mercedes made him cupcakes and we had a fun day.
Whew!  One down... next year we have Heather graduating from High School.  I'll take the summer break to catch my breath and look for extra work!
More later... on our way to Mercedes pre op appt for her planned C Section.

Playhouse and garden...

Russ and I prepped to plant tomorrow... I finished the grapes and Russ built two "trellis" boxes for beans and for cucumbers... we are enjoying "recycling" everything around us.  Cattle panels that are not in use  are being utilized in the garden...

It started raining... so she grabbed my thermal shirt to put on...lol  if she doesn't look pathetic!!  lolol
She helped plant the beans along the trellis... we look forward to walking under the "tunnel" and picking beans.

Here is the deck being put together for the playhouse... Its become a larger project than the two oldest kids thought!  But they are learning... they have the railing to put on and a final coat of paint on the inside... and it will be done except for outside paint...
I have promised Russ I will take more pictures in the morning... to show the second hoop trellis for the cucumbers and what all we are doing.
So until next time... hug your hunny!

Garden trying to go in...

This year we have had more rain...almost like living on the coast!  Its June already... I really want sunshine!

So I know we havent posted in ages... but we are busy!  And I forget to take the camera out until I see it at night... so here are a few updates...

Below is Miranda's garden area... she has planted flowers along her path to the tree to climb.  And then carrots and more flowers in rows.  Once we start planting cucumbers she will have some of those too!
This is the herb garden.  It will look better once things fill in.  The garden will look a little bland for a few years until our "forever" crops get settled into place... until then I add onions, and garlic and whatever else I can find!

Here are the plum trees.. I will plant beans or something low growing around them to utilize space... anyone have any suggestions for shady things that are edible???  Next to them is the asparagus bed and onions and leeks... they have been marked by pvc and pipes...

Below is the fence line that used to have the great box in front of it.  :)  Its been turned into a potato bed and the outside of the fence line is tomatillo's.  The dear didn't bother them last year so we are hoping they will be ok this year... The inside of the fence is lined with more lilacs and roses... in a few years it will provide some privacy from what people can see from the road...

from the front garden gate looking back to the end of the garden... tomorrow I will till it over one last time and plant... we hope!

Here we have the yellow brick road... well some of it still needs painted... but we need some more yellow paint!  lolol  the greenhouse is full of starts to be planted in the ground in the next few days.

Fancy geraniums lining part of the path... the strawberries are there as well... why yes... that bed does need to be weeded!

Iris... we had packed them around from our next to last place in Brookings.  We bought them the same year Miranda was born... they are so happy to be out of pots and in the ground!  I hope they multiply and multiply!  so many different colors and sizes...

As you can see the yellow brcik road turns to just bricks... I really need some good weather...

the lettuce in our "salad spot"... is taking off and looking good.  I didn't take a very good picture of it did I??  there are lettuces of all colors, radishes outlining them... Swiss chard, spinach... green onions, and carrots...
OH  that's
better... hehehe
Rhubarb... yep.. I need to weed it too!

and Currants I planted for Russ.  He has one recipe that calls for currant jelly... and you can only find it at Christmas it seems... so We will attempt to make our own this year... :):):)

And his one plant is giving us LOTS of currants!
From the end of the path looking out to the front of the property... As we dig rocks out of the ground we are lining the flower areas... and of course... I need to weed the geraniums again!  lol
Berries... blueberries, raspberries, boysenberries, logan berries, and commercial blackberries.  I think! lol  Goji berries in there too!

We found the grapes!  No I dont know what kind they are... or what they will do... but we have found them and will see what they bear this year... :):)

Cheryl's friendship Roses... They started with someone else's roses as well... so she bent them over the fence to the arches on my side from the arches on her side... and they should be gorgeous when they fill in and bloom...
No trailer box... just rows of potatoes!  there is still a lot of stuff for the old owner to take, but its all ready right there on the other side when they come in a few weeks for their last load....
Our other neighbor came today and finished flattening the field with their tractor.   Now I really need to mow!
The playhouse is close to completion on the inside... and the deck should be finished tomorrow... then I just need to level the ground and put in the toys!  Its been a fun project and Miranda has been very patient!
Once its all done we will paint the outside... along with painting the chicken condo!  I need some sunshine!!!

You know... the ducks need to rest...

This needs painted as well... this is our "slaughter station"...  again.. we just need some good weather to finish off all these small projects...

So there is our latest update.... The garden is late in getting in... again!  I will just make sure Russ touches all the seeds to make sure his green hands give them a jump start!  lol  Until next time... Happy Homesteading!
