Prepping to pull out...

This is what you see turning into the driveway... the driveway that failed inspection, so we have to redo this part along here I guess.  Eventually we will get the rest done, all the way back to the shop where the travel trailer is sitting, but for now it is another permit and more gravel to upgrade the beginning of the driveway.

As you look to the left and  back a little there are a couple of dogs that moo... lol The are growing... not as fast as I would like, but I am ready for some spring grass too!  Ever so curious.

Lola dragged out a slide.  She hadnt been out in days with the rains, so it was nice to see her playing.  You can see the test hole over there, and they are taking everything away from the old mobile.

Daddy's lil helper.  She's got her shopping cart, he's got his garden cart.  :)  And this is our home for now.  The travel trailer butted up against the shop.  I am sure ready for some space.  Although I know we will appreciate it all the more once it is all done.

The angle from the neighbors fenceline.  The concrete blocks are coming out from the edges, the old insulation that was hanging is being pulled away and everything prepped.

Taken from the travel trailer door.  Skirting coming off, water lines cut, etc.   Whoo HOO!

One last angle from the neighboring fenceline.  The old delapitated porch that was disintegrating is pulled away from the mobile now, the old delapitated steps are pulled out, Miranda is checking it all out after school.
Today should be more eventful with tires being put on and the tongue bolted on.  I am not sure they will pull it out today or not, but will be there with camera in hand.
I need to go to the neighbors house to shower... so until next time.... Happy Homesteading!

New Home on its way

Its been months I know.  Lets just say the summer and fall got away with us between weddings, and back surgery for Russ, and packing... and we are just trying to keep our heads above water.

She is standing about where the new front door will be.  The hazelnut bushes behind her will be pulled out.  We are all getting pretty excited to have a real home soon...

Now you see the dead walnut tree...

Now you dont!  The travel trailer is there now in front of the shop... remember when it looked like this??

I guess it is starting to look better huh???

I think thats about our 'last' outside pile of junk ready to haul off.  Its taken two years, but we are almost there!!!  And yes.. he is the king of Dads!  :)

My boy!  waiting for his breakfast...

We piled the walnut tree branches that could be used for firewood to be split up later and up they crawled.  My two little peas in a pod...

well... as junky as it looks.. its served us well for the two years we were in it.  Remember when it looked like this???

Here's the front area now...

You know the one you can't see with Labamba there blocking the view of the girlz playhouse?
And the huge test hole dug for DEQ?  lol  We are that close though!!!

The last picture of the pool.  I just finished taking it down to store until Spring.  It will go in the new back yard... I think Russ said we will make this a parking area and if I know us, more hoop houses!!  :)

The last of the burn piles.  By next week the old mobile will be hanging out in the field until the new house is in.  They will haul it away on the final trip.

Well not much of an update, but an update nonetheless....  Tomorrow I will take more 'prepics' as things develop this next week.  This is Russ and I's last 'big' adventure, we are tired.  As I am sure we will have many smaller ones as we watch the little girls grow, we embrace this last adventure in life together.
As always ... Happy Homesteading!

Gardening update!!!

Well here we are almost May and now we are lagging in getting things in!  Here are a few pics of things we have been working on...

\

we are eating things out of the hoophouse.  Its been GREAT!  I want a couple more!!!

   The kids play area...

The friendship gate I put in so we can have easier access to the neighbor...  It will be nice to have it cleaned up and livable again!
Our apple trees below... two of them... They sure have alot of blooms this year!
Hoops... for beans etc... we are ready to get them planted soon!!!
Our rhubarb... its doing really well this year...
 Currants...

 Chives...
Egyptian walking onions next to some sage and oregano... Hi Kathleen!
 Onions... I cant wait!
Asparagus Bed... getting ready to border it in permanently...

Now I am getting sporadic.. starting things and not finishing!  lol  there are Lilacs all along this fenceline with roses that Russ has bought over the years... I am trying to get them all weeded.  We are behind the 8 ball with the weeds out of control last year... I'll get er done though... slowly but surely!

Our old boy... he's almost 10.  Still about the best dog in the world...

this is where Russ will put even more tomatoes... along the driveway... next to the main garden...
Labamba (the farm truck) ... the clutch is finally gone...lol  but he worked long enough to get all the potato boxes filled with dirt/manure/compost... I tell all the kids... if you can drive Labamba... you can drive anything!  all the potato boxes are in finally!!

 yup... taters!

Taters, sweet taters, and taters again... five boxes in all... we should have enough potatoes to last a little while anyway...

I mowed the front end of the property today and found the strawberry bed.  I will dig out the leeks tomorrow and get the berries going!  Happy Homesteading!
